Koh Yao Yai, an island in the Phuket province, is known for its sandy shores, rubber plantations, and fishing villages. We were also told by one of our trusted guides that there were rumors of kratom trees that were unlike any other.
Immediately we booked our flights and accommodations to see what the hype was all about. At first glance, it wasn’t what we were expecting. While it was definitely a Phuket paradise, it was still a growing tourist destination.
That was until we took our jeeps off-road deep into the middle of the island. The brush was getting incredibly dense so we had to continue inward on foot.
